Jake Thornock

Jake Thornock is the John W. and Nancy S. Hardy Chaired Professor of Accounting at the Marriott School of Business, Brigham Young University, where he also serves as Associate Director of the Executive MBA program.

His research examines how information intermediaries, investor attention, and corporate disclosure shape capital markets, along with the causes and consequences of corporate tax avoidance. His work has appeared in Journal of Finance, Journal of Financial Economics, Journal of Accounting Research, Journal of Accounting and Economics, The Accounting Review, Review of Accounting Studies, Contemporary Accounting Research, and Management Science, among others.

Before joining BYU, he was a tenured member of the accounting faculty at the University of Washington's Foster School of Business. He earned his PhD in Accounting from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and his MAcc and BS from Brigham Young University.
